Javier Bosques (b. 1985 in Puerto Rico) is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, sculpture, and painting. In his practice, he introduces a visual language in pursuit of signifiers that best represent the plurality and subjective nature of experience.
Bosques studied visual arts at The Cooper Union in New York City and holds a masters in film directing from UCLA in Los Angeles. Bosques has been resident at Skowhegan School of Painting in Maine, 2008 and at Red Gate Residency in Beijing, 2018. His work has been exhibited locally and internationally. Recent presentations of his work include Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, San Juan, 2019; Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2018; LAXART, Los Angeles, 2017; Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago, 2017; Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, La Habana, 2017. Bosques’s work is part of the permanent collection of Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
